26 degrees on the Cornish Coast at Polhawn Fort, Daisy and Nick were getting ready with their closest and most precious people as they prepared to get married in a stunning outdoor ceremony looking out to the sea.
Daisy and Nick enquired with me after finding me on Google [thanks Google] and then later on Instagram. We jumped on a video call but Nick was away working, so it was just Daisy and their two doggos Lola and Goose [amazing names].
Luckily Lola and Goose liked me too and I was beyond excited to be booked for what was tipped to be an epic wedding.
Due to the distance we lived from each other, Bath - Norfolk, we opted to do their pre wedding shoot the night before the wedding as they were staying at their venue and had a private beach cove. I headed over and we spent just half an hour on the beach and had a great time.
Daisy and Nick booked my full day package including a second shooter, so I was joined by Eleanor Bryant Photography who is based in Bristol. I chose Ellie for a few reasons. She shoots in a very similar documentary style to me and we have been friends for a couple of years now and I knew she would be a good fit for Daisy and Nick. We headed to Polhawn Fort that morning and the scenery was just was breathtaking. We knew it was going to be a great wedding day.
I joined Daisy, her bridesmaids and mum for a nice relaxed morning of glamming.
Daisy's glam team were the incredible ladies, Becky of Bear Bridal Hair and Anna of Balance of Beautee, both of whom are based in the Devon / Cornwall area.
Nick and his groomsmen had some relaxed portraits taken outside in the grounds by Ellie and she also captured these images of the grounds - including the drone shots.
The ceremony area outside overlooks the sea.
The very talented From The Wild Florist, Alice and her team created a beautiful blue and orange floor crescent and two small end meadows. Florals made up of delphiniums, hydrangeas, roses, dahlias, sea holly and calendula.
I have not seen orange and blue as a colour scheme before but this worked so beautifully with the backdrop of the sea.
Daisy was walked down the aisle by her dad who gave her some amazing advice... "imagine everyone's naked". Daisy's dress was by Morilee and was from Belle of The Ball Bridal in Bath. Nick and the groomsmen's suits were from Moss Bros.
The most glorious blue, white and orange petal confetti all made by Daisy, her mum and mother in law.
A few formal group shots - family only, were done with the sea as the backdrop. Then some less formal ones with their groomsmen and bridesmaids in front of the fort. It was a very sunny and hot day, so we were chasing the shade.
Canapes and drinks were served on the lawn and the garden games included limbo and welly throwing.
While everyone went inside to seat for dinner, we took 10 minutes for some couples portraits.
Daisy and Nick did a joint speech before dinner. After dinner everyone headed upstairs to the roof terrace for dessert and more speeches from both parents, best man and maid of honour.
Followed by a cake cut. A cake of CHEESE! Complete with hand made [by Daisy] models of Lola and Goose, their dogs on the top.
Bloody hell these lot knew how to party! They hit the dance floor and it was incredible. I didn't want to go home.
So all in all an absolutely amazing day. The kind of day that made me pinch myself and ask "how is this my job and how do I get these awesome couples"?
