Make it an event

Either look at them as a couple or have your family and friends over. Whatever suits you both best but DO NOT look at them alone no matter how tempted you are. Get some drinks and snacks in and make a proper evening of it and relive your wedding day.

Take your time

You can click through 700 images in a matter of minutes. Slow down and really look at each image. Talk about them as you flick through.

Do you remember that moment? What the hell were you doing there? Re watch your gallery 2/3 times to really enjoy them.

Size matters

If viewing a digital gallery, look at them on a decent size screen, not a bloody iPhone 6s or and iPad with a half shattered screen. Use a laptop, a decent sized tablet or better still stream them to your TV. Imagine lights down low, curtains drawn, candles lit with music in background.

You won’t love them all

On your wedding day you will be photographed from every angle and let’s be honest we all prefer “our best side”. So it’s normal for there to be a few of yourself that you don’t like. Rather than focus on what you don’t like, try to look at what is captured as a whole. Look at the entire image. Are you laughing? Do you look happy? Is someone else you love in the image?

Do not delete the ones you don’t like

Still download them and save them into a separate folder if necessary but please don’t delete them. We see ourselves differently over time and one day you may change your mind about how you feel towards that image. One day that photo will be someone’s treasured possession.

Someone will say something negative

People just can’t help themselves “they are a bit dark” or “I wouldn’t have included that one”. Ignore these people, their opinions don’t matter. Remember why you chose your photographer and their style. As long as you love them it’s all that matters.

You don’t have to share them

If you don’t want to share any to your social media, then you don’t have to. The photos are for you and it is up to you which ones you share. Don’t let other people pressure you into it either.

Print them

Please print your favourite images and hang them in your home. It’s best to order them right away because as time passes we just don’t get round to it. So order your photos while you are still excited about them. Photography will be one of your biggest investments at your wedding so don’t leave the photos on a memory stick in a drawer or stuck on a laptop. Hang them where you can see them everyday.

Back them up safely

Download your images in the highest quality possible. If you own a laptop each save a copy to each laptop. Some photographers will include a memory peg with a back up of your images on which is great, but still invest in a portable hard drive to back them up again. They start at about £30 and your photographer can help you with what size memory you will need.

Leave a review

If you are happy with the gallery and overall service provided by your photographer, you can help them land their next job by leaving a review on Google. The reviews make such a huge difference and helps us rank on google in searches, so we really do a happy dance when we get a review.
