A wedding is not just a union of two souls; it is a celebration of love and commitment. And when it comes to a truly memorable wedding, elegance is key.

Kate and Alex married at The Norfolk Mead Hotel in Norfolk and their day was filled with sophistication, timeless beauty, and a touch of grandeur.

In this blog, we delve into the world of their elegant wedding, where every detail exudes grace and charm, creating an unforgettable experience for the couple and their guests.

A dreamy wedding begins with the perfect venue. Imagine a traditional hotel nestled amidst lush gardens, This timeless setting provides a picturesque backdrop that enhances the beauty of the day.

When it comes to the décor, a black tie wedding calls for a harmonious blend of opulence and refinement. Kate and Alex chose a black and white colour scheme which added a touch of glamour to the ambiance. Elegant floral arrangements by Floral Sistas set the stage for a truly enchanting experience. Flowers are a key element in the decor, and the choice of blooms should reflect the theme. Tables were dressed with white roses, white lisanthus and sweet peas, combined with lush greenery creating sophistication and romance. Ceremony chairs dressed sleekly but simply with white drapes and black bows all provided by Epic Events Norfolk.

Kates bouquet complimented the decor with matching white roses, lisanthus and sweet peas.

Black and white signage and stationery was created with outstanding attention to detail by Stamp Design Co. The signage added a real element of luxury to the day, tying the theme together like a beautiful black and white bow!

The bride and groom are the stars of an elegant wedding, and their attire reflects the grandeur of the day.

Kate's gown was a masterpiece. Her dress aptly named Dior, designed by Madilane Bridal, making her feel and look like a princess. Flowing silhouettes, delicate satin and intricate detailing. Nude heels by Stuart Weitzman peeped beneath Kate’s gown, which she bought from Bellamme Bridal in Lincoln. An ethereal veil which had a hand embroidered quote personal to the couple was designed and created by Tulle & Flo Bridal and stocked by Bellemme Bridal.

Kate's hair was finished with glamerous hollywood waves by Bethany Alden. Her make up was by Danika Daisley.

Alex's attire complemented his bride's, with a tailored tuxedo and a velvet jacket, exuding sophistication and charm.

The groomsmen in black ties and the bridesmaids and maid of honour wearing satin black dresses, each in individual fittings and styles, completed this stylish wedding party.

Alex and Kate’s registrar was warm, friendly, so relaxed and funny and she complimented their wedding ceremony so beautifully. Warm emotional moments paired with hilariously funny sentiments. With emotive readings and sincere vows it would have taken a heart of steel to not shed a tear or two.

One essential (in my opinion) element that ensures these precious moments are preserved forever is wedding portraiture. Wedding portraits immortalize the love shared between two individuals, capturing the essence of their special day.

The true beauty of wedding portraits lies in the genuine emotions they evoke. I don't just want to give couples "cute photos". I want them to be taken right back to that moment when they look at their gallery. To feel again what they were feeling in the second I snapped the shutter. To create images that resonate deeply, I focus on capturing the connection between you and your partner. Relax, be present in the moment, and allow your love to shine through. Interact naturally, share affectionate glances, hold hands, and embrace each other tenderly. These intimate gestures will bring out the genuine emotions that make your wedding portraits truly captivating and memorable.

While posed portraits are essential, don't overlook the magic of candid moments. Some of the most cherished photographs capture spontaneous interactions between you, your partner, and loved ones. Candid shots convey the raw emotions and joy of the day, often revealing the true essence of your relationship.

Slow falling confetti is an absolute must! Kate and Alex opted for white paper circles that floated down slowly and was an absolute dream to photograph.

A couple of my favourite online confetti stores for this type of confetti are Your Confetti and Proper Confetti who are both on Instagram.

I would try to avoid anything too dark in colour as it does not show up as well in photos. You cannot go wrong with white in my opinion. White confetti just goes with any colour scheme but looks classy and romantic.

Dried flower petals are beautiful, but it is heavier so drops fast and can be more likely to poke you in the eye... But if you are opting for dried petals I recommend making your own by saving all the petals from any flowers you and your family and friends have. Lay them out flat, store in a dark place for 3-4 weeks and hey presto! Free confetti.

Emotional and heartfelt speeches are just what every photographer prays for, as the candid and reaction opportunities are endless. We love a crying mum and a sobbing sister. Give me all the crying. Norfolk Mead has a beautiful and spacious reception room which easily held a top table and 6 round tables for Kate and Alex's 60 guests. The crisp white draping styled by Norfolk Epic Events was the perfect elegant backdrop.

The speeches were done before the food was served, which allowed me to capture "clean images". The tables were still dressed as they were by the stylist that morning, nothing had been moved and there were no plates or spillages in the foreground, giving them really crisp speech images. This is just one reason why doing your speeches first is such a great idea.

Even the most elegant black tie weddings have shots! It only took one table to start the shots train and then they all wanted a go!

After dinner and before the evening guests arrived Kate and Alex gathered up their bridesmaids and groomsmen and we headed out to the grounds of Norfolk Mead for some fun and non traditional group shots. They had told me in the lead up to their wedding they wanted to capture their time with their closest friends so I knew this was important to them. There is beautiful meadow like spaces to the side of the hotel with a quaint bridge and long grass which is perfect as the sun sets across the meadow.

We kept things really chilled out and just let them all interact while we captured it candidly. The smoke bombs turned into chaos and we ended with piggy back races and groom being thrown in the air several times. Ultimate trust from your groomsmen required for this.

Kate and Alex's guests gathered around the spacious dance floor, anticipation hung in the air. The familiar strains of a heartfelt song filled the room, resonating with the emotions of the newlyweds and their loved ones. The bride, radiant in her Madilane gown (albeit a little stained and dirty from the fun we had all just had in the meadow) took her groom's hand, to share their first dance as husband and wife.
